Muji’s Shea Essentials LLC provides natural homemade skincare products by utilizing organic ingredients and all-natural oils that are safe for your skin and the environment. Our signature product is hand-whipped shea butter sourced from Nigeria—it offers UV protection and is rich in vitamins A, E, and F.

All of the Shea Butter used in our moisturizers are sourced from Nigeria. Our products consist of countless oils: Coconut, Vitamin E, Jojoba, Sweet Almond, Olive, Grapeseed, Tea Tree, and Essential Oil(s) (Peppermint, Argan, Lavender, Lemon, Sweet Orange, Primrose, Eucalyptus, etc).

 

After researching, here are a few benefits of a few essential oils, carrier oils, dried herbs, and other ingredients: 

Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia): derived from the lavender plant, of the mint family

  • Multipurpose oil
  • Used to relieve stress
  • Anti-inflammatory that can reduce redness 
  • A natural hydrator that can repair dry skin without making it too greasy
  • A good choice for sensitive skin
  • When mixed with coconut oil, it relieves chapped lips

Peppermint (Mentha piperita): derived from the peppermint plant, mint family

  • Natural menthol content
  • Analgesic effect on the skin
  • Cools down hot rashes

Lemon (Citrus medica limonum): extracted from the Citrus limonum, of the Rutaceae family

  • Anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial
  • Can help you boost your mood and destress

Primrose (Oenothera Biennis): evening primrose is made from the seeds of the flowers of a plant native to North America

  • Moisturizes and soothes the skin
  • Enhance the texture and elasticity of the skin, addressing dryness, irritation, roughness, and wrinkles

Coconut (Cocos Nucifera): extracted from the kernel of mature coconuts harvested from the coconut palm

  • Leaves the skin to be soft
  • Moisturizing and soothing ability
  • Contains vitamins, antioxidants, and essential fatty acids
  • When applied to the lips, they nourish and protect them from getting dry

Jojoba (Simmondsia Chinensis): produced in the seed of the Simmondsia chinensis plant

  • Contains natural forms of Vitamin E
  • Anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and works with your skin as an antioxidant 
  • Help your skin fight oxidative stress caused by everyday exposure to pollutants and other toxins
  • Repairs the top layer of skin, thanks to its natural fatty acid content
  • A good choice for oily skin
  • Treats acne, psoriasis, sunburn, and chapped skin

    Tea Tree (Melaleuca Alternifolia): distilled from the leaves of the native Australian plant Melaleuca alternifolia

    • Soothes skin inflammation

    Argan (Argania Spinosa Kernel): extracted from the kernels of the argan tree

    • Known as “liquid gold”
    • Helps moisturize dry and flaky skin

    Sweet Almond (Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis): 

    • Very fatty and rich, meaning it's occlusive and holds in moisture

     

    Grapeseed (Vitis Vinifera): 

    • Rich and silky texture perfect for soothing away dryness and is suitable for all skin types since it will not  clog pores or cause breakouts

     

    Olive (Olea Europaea): a species of small tree or shrub in the family Oleaceae

    • It’s a great lip care product because of its abundance of vitamin E and other nutrients. 
    • Anti-inflammatory effects, it is very effective in treating the chapping and cracking

    OTHER INGREDIENTS

    Cane Sugar (Sucrose, fructose, glucose): White, Brown, Turbinado 

    • Natural exfoliant for hands, face, and body
    • Useful to apply before shaving 
    • Sugaring is better than waxing since it doesn’t adhere to live skin cells; adheres to hair s and dead skin cells

    Honey

    • Antibacterial and antiseptic properties; gets rid of dirt and bacteria
    • Prevents and treats acne, and helps with dry skin

    Beeswax (Cera Alba)

    • Heals, softens, and protects skin
    • Anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory
    • Helps fight acne, dry skin, eczema, and stretch marks

    Cacao Powder (Theobroma cacao): made from fermented beans that have not been roasted—more natural

    • Raw cacao powder is a less processed form of cocoa powder. The beans are dried at a low temperature before being ground (which is why they’re considered raw). The powder is, therefore, higher in minerals, enzymes, and antioxidants. 

    Black Soap (Ose dudu): made from various plants 

    • Plantain skins and leaves, cocoa pod powder, shea tree bark, and leaves of the tropical camwood tree (Pterocarpus osun)
    • Originated from the Yoruba people in Nigeria (also linked to Benin, Togo, and Ghana)
    • Good for clearing skin discoloration, facial and body acne, dark spots, and more
